Indu Nair has been in a second women batch in IAF since 20
years ago. She wanted to be an air hostess since childhood, but her sister had
insisted to join IAF, then she diverted her mind in civil services. She has
worked as a captain in IAF for a very long time. Now she is working as a
captain in a private air force. She has seen tough times during their training
and job in IAF. Only two women were during the time of Kargil conflict in the
airplane. She was told by his senior that women have to use common toilets as
well as there would be same place for sleeping for men and women. She replied
to his senior that she was ready in every condition. Two women and seniors were
gone to the spot of kargil and lift the bodies of martyred soldiers who had
died defending our country. She told that this work was the very tragic and
tough. She told that whenever she goes to her home, then she spends lots of her
time with her husband and children. Her work schedule is about 6 days and other
days for rest. She was saying that she becomes bored of eating the same food of
the hotels; she misses the food of home. Her husband said that she is good at
driving of plane as compared to a car. She said that she was always fascinated
by the uniforms of IAF. In the Airforce, people were becoming usual seeing the
female pilots, but females looked at us with so much pride. She has seen
sunrise to sunset, bad weather in which they were trained for specific
conditions. They have faced the irate passengers also when they diverted the
plane in less visibility and bad weather conditions.
